Soft opening set for Azul (indystar)
The bar and restaurant space in The Ambassador apartment building at Ninth and
Pennsylvania streets was just too good-looking to stay closed for long. At one
time, the space was to be called BarYats and offer local restaurateur Joe
Vuskovich’s popular Cajun/Creole cuisine. After Vuskovich bowed out of the
project, it opened in September 2010 with the straightforward moniker of The
Bar at the Ambassador and offered classic drinks and a New Orleans flair. It
closed last month. Now it has become Azul, a Mexican-American bar and grill.
Menu items include tortas, quesadillas, chimichangas, enchiladas, burritos.
The dinner menu also features ceviches, fish and shrimp dishes, chicken,
salmon and rib-eyes. Dinner entree prices top out in the mid-teens. Owner Tom
Megenhardt said a soft opening is scheduled for 4 p.m. Dec. 21. Starting
Thursday, Dec. 22, Azul will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. (except for
Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day).
